One of the main components of human teeth and bones is calcium and phosphorus. Deficiency of these elements can lead to weak tooth formation. Vitamin D controls the levels of calcium and phosphorus in the human body. Due to the lack of this vitamin D, many problems of teeth and bones in the human body are seen. The formation of children’s teeth starts while they are in the mother’s womb. When the child is 4-6 weeks old (in the mother’s womb), teeth start forming. First milk teeth, then permanent teeth and finally wisdom teeth – this process continues for many years. Therefore, the presence of adequate amounts of vitamin D is essential for the formation of healthy teeth and bones.
What happens in the absence of vitamin D?
Due to the lack of vitamin D, the levels of calcium and phosphorus in the body decrease, which weakens the structure of teeth and bones. The effect of adequate amounts of vitamin D on teeth is very important. Due to weak teeth, children are affected by tooth decay very quickly and once affected, it becomes difficult to control. As a result, the teeth are completely decayed very quickly and later on, various complications including pain, gum infection, premature tooth loss are created. Various symptoms – tooth decay, tooth movement, breakage and other symptoms are also seen in adult teeth. How can we meet the sufficient requirement of vitamin D naturally: Vitamin D is one of the elements of the human body’s development and growth that is produced in the body. For this, the presence of sunlight is necessary. When the body comes close to sunlight, the skin absorbs sunlight, which helps in the production of vitamin D. Morning sunlight is very beneficial for the production of sufficient amount of vitamin D. For this, it is important to keep children under sunlight every day, even if for a short time. Morning sunlight also helps in the development of other body elements.
We also get vitamin D from various foods such as sea fish, egg yolks, etc. The following is a short list of complete vitamin D foods –
1. Sea fish – tuna, coral, salmon, etc.
2. Fish eggs
3. Egg yolk
4. Milk
5. Dairy products – butter, cheese, yogurt
6. Mushrooms
7. Processed orange juice
8. Cereals, etc.
At least one of these foods should be included in your daily diet. There are also various vitamin D supplements that can be taken only after consulting a doctor.
Conclusions
Various studies have clearly shown that vitamin D deficiency causes irreparable damage to teeth. The teeth and bones of people who are deficient in vitamin D are much weaker than those who are deficient in vitamin D. Awareness and adequate nutrition can provide strong teeth and healthy gums. Have your child examined by a pediatric dentist or dentist every 6 months to prevent tooth decay.
